Colorado Wilderness Rides and Guides Offering Exclusive Learn to Lead Climbing Course and Learn to Mountain Bike Course with SheJumps

Colorado Wilderness Rides and Guides, experts in outdoor transformational and experiential adventures, is teaming up with SheJumps, an organization dedicated to women’s only outdoor-education, to provide an exclusive all-women’s introduction to lead climbing and introduction to mountain biking course. The courses will be taught by Colorado Wilderness Rides and Guides’ excellent female guiding staff, with focused and comprehensive knowledge, and the tools and resources to take those skills to the next level even after the completion of the course.

 

Learn to Lead


Saturday April 28 – Sunday April 29 2018

8:00 AM – 4:00 PM

Cost per participant – $375.00

 

This two-day course will introduce climbers to lead climbing, including knots, belaying, anchors, and placing gear. We will also cover rope management, placement of directional anchors, route finding, and rock quality assessments. Colorado Wilderness Rides and Guides will provide any necessary equipment including shoes, harnesses, helmets, belay devices, and protection if necessary. We do recommend climbers bring their own gear if possible to get comfortable with their equipment. Climbers will learn proper climbing and clipping technique through mock leading. Climbers must be able to confidently climb 5.8 top-rope in a gym. We will also provide lunch, snacks, and bottled water.

 

Introduction to Mountain Biking

Saturday June 2 – Sunday June 3 2018

8:00 AM – 4:00 PM

Cost per participant – $375.00

This two-day course is intended to teach the fundamental skills of mountain biking including technique and riding over a variety of terrain. We will cover balance, ascending and descending techniques, reading terrain, braking, steering, speed, body position, and pedal position. Colorado Wilderness Rides and Guides will provide bikes, helmets, and instruction during the course if necessary. We recommend students bring their own bike to get comfortable with their equipment. Basic bike riding experience is required. If students have their own pedals and shoes, we may switch out the standard setup. We will also provide lunch, snacks, and bottled water.
