
Fly Fishing Guide Training
Our Fly Fishing Guide Training is a 3-day course designed for novice to advanced anglers looking to improve their skills or pursue a career as a professional fly-fishing guide. This course offers in-depth education, hands-on experience, and mentorship in various fly-fishing techniques and river safety.
Upon completion, graduates are encouraged to apply for a fly-fishing guide position with Colorado Wilderness Rides and Guides.
Itinerary
Day 1: Introduction to casting styles, techniques, knots, equipment, and fly presentation. Casting on water and a 2-hour evening fly-tying clinic.
Day 2: River safety, trout habitat, reading rivers, river entomology, wading techniques, and fly-fishing on the river. Evening assignments on knots and entomology.
Day 3: Match the hatch, river fishing techniques, guiding principles, risk management, and the “Guide Olympics.”
