2019 – 2020 Avalanche Awareness and Education (Denver, Boulder, Golden, Estes Park)

AIARE Level 1 Course / AIARE Level 2 Course / AIARE Avalanche (Companion) Rescue Course / Avalanche Awareness

For any outdoor enthusiast, traveling safely in a winter environment is paramount. These accredited American Institute for Avalanche Research and Education (AIARE) courses (AIARE Level 1, AIARE Level 2, Avalanche Rescue, and Avalanche Awareness) provide an introduction and opportunity for developing essential decision-making skills for avalanche hazard management.

In fall 2017, AIARE created a split in the recreational and professional avalanche education tracks. This track split has taken three-plus years of tedious work to create and has been a significant undertaking for AIARE (a non-profit organization dedicated to improving avalanche education in the United States and providing a standard avalanche curriculum for professional avalanche educators) and AAA (American Avalanche Association – our professional avalanche membership organization).

Colorado Wilderness Rides and Guides offers five recreational training courses:

  • AIARE Level 1
  • AIARE Level 2
  • AAIRE Avalanche Rescue Course (aka Companion Rescue)
  • Avalanche Awareness
  • AIARE Level 1 re-fresher – more information to come in October 2019
