Beyond Colorado's spectacular trails, campsites, and waterways, Colorado is also known for its scenic roadways, offering a close-up glimpse of wildlife, scenery, mountains, and historical relics from the comfort of heated and air conditioned vehicles. From Rocky Mountain National Park's Trail Ridge Road, to Mt. Rocky Mountain National Park
Rocky Mountain National Park features Trail Ridge Road, one of the few roads in the United States that rises above 12,000-feet, all the way to the Alpine Visitors Center, giving guests up-close views of wildlife, big mountain scenery, and the best of Rocky Mountain National Park. We'll start in the lower roads of the park and get opportunities to view moose, elk, deer, coyotes, and rare black bears, before up high we'll get to view bighorn sheep and mountain goats.
In the winter, Rocky Mountain National Park takes on a wholly different character with frozen waterfalls and waterways, icy vistas, and snow-covered peaks, with sightseeing mostly on the lower roads of the park. There's still plenty of wildlife viewing opportunities and seeing animals in their winter habitats.
Mt. Evans
One of the few 14ers with a road that goes directly to the summit, Mt. Evans features one of Colorado's most expansive views, looking over Idaho Springs and Clear Creek County from 14,000+ feet and offering the thrill of being on top of Colorado without having to hike the summit trail. Starting from Boulder, we'll drive through the river town of Idaho Springs and drive up though the forested roads passing by shimmering alpine lakes as we make our way higher towards the peak. We'll see a historic lodge before starting the long climb up towards the summit.
As we get higher we'll leave the trees behind and get overreaching views of the landscape below, looking over Idaho Springs and Clear Creek Canyon. Once we get towards the summit, we'll see the ruins of the historical summit structure that was burnt in a devastating fire. Frequently we'll be able to see animals such as mountain goats walking around the summit.
Boulder Sightseeing
Boulder is one of Colorado's most revered mountain towns, with a long history stretching back from the 1880's all the way to being one of America's counter-culture meccas. From artistic wonders, to spectacular natural scenery and a growing brewery, medicinal marijuana, and restaurant scene, Boulder has a legacy of history combined with majestic mountain views. We'll start near Boulder's historic Pearl Street and explore the Pearl Street Pedestrian mall as well as Boulder Theater, then we'll drive up Flagstaff Road to the summit where we'll get opportunities to view Boulder from up high as well as the Flatirons and the Indian Peaks Wilderness. Afterwards we'll have opportunities to view Boulder's brewery scene with a visit to Boulder Brewery, one of the oldest and first craft breweries in Colorado.
Golden Sightseeing
Golden is one of America's revered frontier towns, set between Boulder and Denver and featuring a long history dating from Buffalo Bill to the home of one of America's most famous breweries. We'll start by exploring Downtown Golden, left relatively unchanged since it's wild west days with historical buildings that are updated but retain their old world charm. We'll then get to explore the Coors Brewery, one of America's most well known major brewing companies. We'll then get to explore sights such as the American Mountaineering Center and Library, long the center for American exploration in the mountains, and the Buffalo Bill Museum high above Golden, where we'll get to see the grave of the famous western showman looking high over the city.
Denver Sightseeing
The Mile-High City is the gateway to the West, and a world class city in it's own right. With spectacular views of the Rockies far in the distance, as well as the historical city hall, Denver Mint, the Molly Brown House, Byers-Evans House, and 16
Street Mall, one of the longest roads in the United States. We'll start at the heart of Denver and explore the sites and locations that make Denver iconic as well as talking about the budding brewery and restaurant scene, what makes Denver a world-class city.
