Call to BookSold OutThis accredited American Institute for Avalanche Research and Education (AIARE) AIARE Level 1 course provides an introduction into essential decision-making skills for avalanche hazard management. For any outdoor enthusiast, traveling safely in a winter environment is paramount.

Description
This is an 8-hour AIARE Avalanche Rescue course that will cover the following:
- Location: In Rocky Mountain National Park or Roosevelt National Forest. This will be determined the week of the course, based on current snow conditions.
- 8 hours of field practice
- Avalanche survivability
- Rescue methods and proper use of safety devices
- Avalanche rescue procedures and best practices
- Single and multiple burial scenarios
- Personal burial and avalanche burial common mistakes
- Instructors: Joshua Baruch (Course Lead) and Cindy Gagnon or Jill Yarger (Course Instructors) based on registrations.
- Prerequisite(s): none.

Course Details
Rate: $210 per participant. Due to high demand, any changes after registration will incur a $50 change fee. **There are no refunds or make-ups for missed days.**
Location: In Rocky Mountain National Park or Roosevelt National Forest. This will be determined the week of the course, based on current snow conditions.
Requirements
The course operates with a minimum of six participants and a maximum of 14.
A gear list will be sent upon confirmation of course registration, and we’re happy to help arrange for personal gear if you do not have it. A slope meter is required for this course. You may purchase a BCA slope meter from us for $20 at the time of registration or $25 during the course.
Included in our rates: All instruction and AIARE rescue course materials, AIARE Certified Course Leader and Instructors, AIARE certificate of completion. All course materials will be provided. *** The first 10 people to register for each course will receive free use of a beacon, shovel, and probe during the course.***
Not included in our rates: Transportation, meals, or personal gear. A gear list will be sent upon confirmation of your course registration. We are happy to help arrange for personal gear if you do not have it. You may purchase a BCA slope meter from us for $20 at the time of registration or $25 during the course.
