Description
Wilderness First Responder training and certification, an 80-hour course assuring that students have the skills and the ability to act quickly and decisively in any situation. We’ll cover basic life support, responding to trauma, including soft tissue injury, circulatory shock, bone and joint injuries such as fractures, head and/or spinal injury, as well as responding to the onset of sudden illness and transport/evacuation planning and implementation. Wilderness first responder students will focus on assessing a situation, improvising solutions, using available resources to stabilize the patient, and identify the best way to get the patient to definitive medical treatment. Using natural environments in Eldorado Canyon State Park and Rocky Mountain National Park, we learn how to assess an injury, how to respond immediately, and how to take the best course of action before reaching professional assistance. Our guides come from a medical background and have intimate knowledge of the body and how to react in an emergency situation.
