Description

The mountains are calling and Colorado Wilderness Rides and Guides want to give you the skills and knowledge needed to heed their call. As a concessionaire for Rocky Mountain National Park to guide technical climbing, ice climbing and mountaineering, we have the perfect playground to gain the skills needed. Our custom and private trips will work with you to learn and practice the skills you most need to succeed in the mountains. On our courses, we cover the basics of roped glacier travel, self-arrest and crevasse rescue. We’ll take you out for a day of ice climbing or learn about winter travel and camping. Want to learn what skills are needed to climb a mountain such as Denali or Mt. Rainier? We’ll teach you the essential skills for expedition management. If you want to experience a multi-day excursion or climb one of the numerous snow couloirs or Ice climbs in the park our guides will design the trip to make it happen. Our ability to customize each trip to work on specific skills for our clients makes Colorado Wilderness Rides and Guides the premier company to give you the ability to live your dreams.

Trip Details

Itinerary: We depart and end from your Boulder or a central meeting spot, while driving about an hour to our training area in Rocky Mountain National Park. While driving, we will cover vital safety and climbing considerations. After arriving at trailhead, we will confirm all safety and personal climbing equipment and then begin our educational journey. We will spend the day going over the skills needed for any winter snow and ice adventure.  At the completion, we will rejoice in our memorable experience together.

Included in our rates: The services of a professional rock climbing guide, any  climbing equipment (helmet, harnesses, crampons, ice axe, belay devises), round-trip transportation from your Boulder hotel or our office, snacks and water (lunch is also included on full-day tours), and education about local and natural history (including library of Rocky Mountain flora and fauna).

Not included in our rates: Mountaineering boots (warm boots with solid soles that can accept clip on crampons- we can help secure these for you for $40 per day) ;Park entrance fees, which are $10 per person daily for Eldorado Canyon State Park and $10 per person daily for Rocky Mountain National Park. Entrance fees are paid directly to the Parks upon entrance, gratuities for your guide are also not included (while the amount is at your discretion, the recommended gratuity is 20%).
