Perfect for riders of all levels, this route will take you above tree-line in the majestic Rocky Mountains, and then descend a total of 7000′ back into Boulder, CO. Easy Rocky Mountain National Park and Estes Park Bike Descent. If you are in Estes Park, Rocky Mountain National Park, Boulder/Denver or Fort Collins/Greeley and want a unique cycling experience, then this is the trip for you, for your friends, and family. The added benefit is that this trip is attainable by any rider, from novice to expert. Our journey will take you 1000 feet above treeline in the high Rockies and then descend for 4000′ back into the town of Estes Park. We’re then transported to the Peak-to-Peak Highway, where we’ll hop on the Switzerland Trail and ride 22 miles back into Boulder.  You’ll ride a total of over 7000 feet of descent!

 

Trip Details

Itinerary:  We depart from your hotel or other location in Boulder and drive up to the top of Trail Ridge Road (abound 12,100′) in Rocky Mountain National Park to the designated departure location. While driving, we will cover vital safety and riding considerations. After arriving at the departure point, we will custom fit your bike and then head off for a 3-4 hour breath-taking bike tour that ends back in Estes Park. We will ride 19 miles down Trail Ridge (4000’ of descent) to the Rocky Mountain National Park entrance.  We’re then transported south to another location and hop on the Switzerland Trail for 22 miles and 3000’ back into Boulder. This ride is mostly a 99% downhill ride with the only prerequisite being able to squeeze the brakes and ride two 20-mile downhill sections. This is our most requested Rocky Mountain National Park area bike tour, particularly for group rides. We normally depart at 6:00 am to be in Estes Park at 07:15 and up to the top of Rocky Mountain National Park by 08:00 am.

Included: The services of professional biking guide(s); bike rental (Fuji hard-tailed mountain bike) and helmet; round-trip transportation between hotel or central meeting location and trailheads; bike shuttle; lunch, water and snacks; education about local and natural history; repair kits (floor pump, hand pump, patch kits, etc.); and, emergency medical kit.

Not included in our rates: Gratuities for guide(s) – while this is at your discretion, the recommended gratuity is 20%. Denver hotel pick-up is an extra $125 per group.  Rocky Mountain National Park entrance fee ($15 per person) – you can use a Golden Access Pass, Golden Eagle Pass, RMNP Annual Pass, or the America the Beautiful National Lands Pass.

Special Notes:  Bike Upgrade Available! We can arrange for a full suspension mountain bike for an additional cost. 

Difficulty Description:  Easy and Moderate. Easy: Gentle climbs and easily avoided obstacles such as rocks and roots. Moderate: Steep slopes and/or obstacles, possibly on narrow trails with poor traction. Requires riding experience and some fitness.
