Trip Details

Itinerary: For this guided ski tour, we depart Boulder, Denver, or Estes Park in the early morning and travel 2-3 hours to our trailhead. We then depart for our lodging for the evening, a rustic hut deep in the Colorado Backcountry. The first day is usually a longer day because we will be skiing into the hut with all our gear for the trip. After we get set up in one of the wonderful huts a nice hot dinner and relaxation will commence. Depending on how long you wish to stay out the days will consist of skiing fresh untracked powder and the nights will be spent in the hut. Hut skiing is so enjoyable because all you need to bring is your clothes, food and a sleeping bag, all the rest of the gear is at the hut! On the last day of the trip we will load up , have a leisurely ski out to the trailhead and drive back to Boulder.

Included in our rates: The services of a professional guide; round-trip transportation from Boulder; permits; all lodging during the trip; all meals while on the trip (except breakfast the first day and dinner on the last day) education about local and natural history (including library of Rocky Mountain flora and fauna; and group communication equipment, and sleeping bag, medical kit, personal avalanche gear (beacon, probe, shovel) and touring ski poles, and contingency and emergency support.

Not included in our rates: Park entrance fees; lodging before and after the trip; Ski touring equipment (AT randonee skis, boots, and skis) and gratuities for your guide (the amount is at your discretion, but the recommended gratuity is 20%). You can rent the equipment like boots and skis but we recommend that you buy your own stuff because it’s more reliable and you know you will be comfortable if you have already adjusted the equipment for your liking before. It’s up to you whether you bring your own equipment or not but it may be easier.

Special Notes: AT ski touring skis or Tele skis, skins, and boots can be rented from Crystals Ski Shop for $50 per day. On a side note: they also rent beacon, probe, shovel for $30 per day. The whole package for all gear (ski and safety) is $65 per day for future reference. PH: 303-449-7669.

Rates will depend on hut chosen, duration of trip and any rentals that are required.
