Our bike skills clinic is for those who want to learn essential road and mountain biking skills like repair, maintenance, and tire care. Our guides train you essential skills for emergency situations, how to choose gear based on your ride, location, and terrain, and how to properly care for your bike. We’ll teach you how to look after your investment, and how to use the proper tools. We’ll also cover how to choose tires, how to keep the chains oiled, and how to properly clean your bike. This full day bike skills clinic is for those who want to be more self-sufficient on their bikes and have a better understanding of the sport.
Itinerary:Â We will start our day either picking you up at your hotel or meeting at our Boulder Office. We will begin the day in our office shop where we go over all the aspects of preparing for a ride. In the afternoon we go and put those skills to use by riding on our local trails. At the end of the day we celebrate our accomplishments.

Fly Fishing Skills Clinic
Ready to take your fly-fishing to the next level? Our Fly Fishing Training Courses will prepare you for your next big adventure, with a customized program lasting from one to ten days in one of Colorado’s most scenic locations in Rocky Mountain National Park or on the Upper Colorado River. We will cover basic and advanced skills and customize the course based on your ability, aptitude, and ambition. Itinerary:Â Contact us about or fly fishing training courses for detailed itineraries depending on your training wishes. One day trips will occur in Boulder or Rocky Mountain National Park. Our multi-day trips can be held in Boulder, Rocky Mountain National Park or on the Colorado River with access to float trips on our hand-made wooden dories or as part of our fleet of oar rigged rafts.

Rock Climbing Skills Clinic
The climbing skills clinic is designed to improve the ability, knowledge and aptitude of all climbers from beginners to those planning cutting edge ascents across the world. Whether you’re a beginner climber, a sport climber looking to improve your skill or a trad climber dreaming of big wall, we’ll help you reach your dreams. Colorado Wilderness Rides and Guides has been of long time service to the climbing community, leading trips across Colorado and Utah and utilizing Colorado’s premier climbing guides to help climbers reach their goals. Our guides have travelled and climbed around the world, and bring a wealth of combined experience to help you reach your goals. Since 2015, Colorado Wilderness Rides and Guides is a concessionaire for Rocky Mountain National Park, offering technical climbing, mountaineering, ski mountaineering, and outdoor education within the boundaries of the national park. Colorado Wilderness Rides and Guides also offer AMGA SPI (Single Pitch Instructor) courses and re-certification. We’ll get you set for expedition climbing, teaching fundamental skills for big climbing goals and expedition management or we’ll teach you how to effectively and efficiently climb multi-pitch or improve your bouldering skills. No matter what you’re dreaming, our climbing skills clinic can help you get there.
Itinerary:Â We depart and end from your Boulder or a central meeting spot, while driving 10-20 minutes to the climbing site. While driving, we will cover vital safety and climbing considerations. After arriving at trailhead, we will confirm all safety and personal climbing equipment (shoes, harness, helmets, belay devises, and more). Our hike to the climbing area will be between 5 to 20 minutes based on where we decide to climb and the desires of the group. On the rock, we will spend 6 to 7 hours climbing and working on skills. At the completion, we will rejoice in our memorable experience together.

Outdoor Survival Skills Clinic
Learn the essential skills to stay safe in the backcountry with our Wilderness Survival Training. In the event of a serious situation, it’s important to find warmth, shelter, food and water. It’s also essential to learn basic navigation, including how to use a compass, read a topography map and figure out how to find the best path out without the reliance of technology. Before you come on this course, to get the most tasks done as possible it would be best if you did some research on basic survival techniques and lessons. This way we can get straight into the nitty-gritty. In this course we’ll learn from guides who have multitudes of combined experience in some of the world’s harshest conditions. No matter if you’re planning a multi-day expedition or a one-day hike, Colorado Wilderness Rides and Guides will teach you teach you the most essential skills to maximize your success in difficult situations.
We’ll learn how to build a rudimentary shelter, how to build a fire, and how to use unconventional water sources. We’ll also learn basic first aid (Colorado Wilderness Rides and Guides also teaches Wilderness First Aid certification) and how to keep your team members in the event of an emergency. We’ll cover the basics of all the first aid kit contents you might need to know about and if you’d like to brush up a bit beforehand. We’ll cover effective expedition management and how to maintain communication out in the wild. We’ll prepare to know how to get in reach with local authorities and how to use natural landscape to aid you. From backpacking to climbing, whitewater rafting, or ski touring, we’ll learn how to survive in each particular environment. We’ll learn how to stay safe in extreme heat or extreme cold and how to stay comfortable in either environment. Our guides come from a variety of backgrounds, including military and mountain search & rescue, and have intimate knowledge of how to stay safe while in the backcountry.
Itinerary: Wilderness Survival training explores Colorado’s natural scenery, using the rugged environment to empower students to use intuition, confidence, ability, and awareness to keep themselves safe and comfortable. In our classroom or outdoors sessions, we discuss navigation, food, water, layering clothes, staying dry, and basic medical and self-care skills. Later, we learn efficient communication, signaling for help and how to help an injured partner. By the end of this course, you’ll have a greater understanding of basic survival tactics allowing you more confidence in backcountry settings.

Intro To Ski Mountaineering Course (5 Days)
If you’ve ever dreamed of standing on top of a mountain and taking in the breathtaking views, ever wanter to climb a 14er from a technical climbing route, the five-day Intro to Mountaineering Course is the perfect opportunity to turn that dream into reality. This immersive course is designed for anyone who wants to learn how to climb mountains safely and confidently.
During the course, you’ll learn a range of skills and techniques necessary for mountaineering. You’ll start with the basics of snow travel, including walking safely on snow, before progressing to technical climbs that require the use of technical gear. You’ll also learn about alpine hazard analysis and risk management strategies, as well as navigation and route-finding techniques.
One of the main focuses of the course is on climbing movement, where you’ll learn how to move on rock, ice, and snow using an ice axe and crampons. You’ll also gain experience with rock, snow and ice protection and anchor systems, and learn how to select and use proper equipment. Additionally, the course covers belaying techniques on rock, snow, and ice, as well as free climbing techniques on low and high angle rock, snow, and ice.
We will utilize rope and climbing equipment, route finding, as well as the application of all ice axe positions and self-arrest training. Proper clothing and equipment for the mountain environment, mountain weather, alpine ecology, and Leave No Trace ethics are also taught.
