At the start of every new year, people from around the world create lists of goals, improvements, and things to do. Our office staff and guides’ 2022 bucket lists are compiled of adventures. Why not spend the year outside in our pristine backyard, creating memories that will last a lifetime? I have compiled a list of some of the best adventures to take in 2022 in Colorado and surrounding states. We can facilitate every single one of these trips if you need a little assistance along the way.
- Hut to Hut ski trips
If you have not experienced skiing in the backcountry of Colorado you are truly missing out. Skiing in the quiet, with fresh lines of powder to yourself and a stunning backdrop, is incomparable. Better yet, you have a warm, cozy, and famous hut to stay at with friends at night. A hut-to-hut skiing trip is definitely on Cwrag’s 2022 bucket list.
2. Climbing the Third Flatiron
Whether you are new to climbing or a super experienced climber, the third flatiron is loads of fun. A classic of Colorado, the standard route is 8 pitches of 5.4 climbing and below. Described as “the best beginner climb in the solar system,” everyone should check it out in 2022.
3. Descending trail ridge road in Rocky Mountain National Park
One of the most iconic roads in the country, Trail Ridge Road, sits at 12,183.’ Get dropped off at the top of this road and descend further down into Rocky Mountain National Park, with 360 degrees of beautiful views.
4. Hiking Sky Pond or Chasm lake
Arguably two of the prettiest hikes in Colorado are located just 45 minutes from Boulder in Rocky Mountain National Park. Both Sky Pond and Chasm Lake are beautiful alpine lakes with rigid rock formations behind them. These two locations are very special places that you don’t want to miss.
5. Biking the Kokopelli trail
One of the most popular mountain biking destinations in the country, the Kokopelli trail spans 142 miles from Utah to Western Colorado. Bike part of the trail or the whole way and enjoy an extremely well-kept trail with both beautiful desert and mountain scenery.
Other top ideas for 2022 include:
- Summiting a 14er
- Multi-day River Trip
- Fishing an alpine lake
- Going Snowshoeing
- Backpacking in Rocky Mountain National Park
CWRAG challenges you to get after it in 2022……“Because in the end, you won’t remember the time spent working in the office or mowing your lawn. Climb that mountain!”
